Hi, I'm Luke Evans - a professional drummer, session musician, and drum tutor based in Oxfordshire. If you are reading this, you are probably considering drum lessons for yourself or your child and wondering whether it is the right decision, and whether you have found the right person. I hope I can answer both of those questions here.
I have been playing drums for 18 years, performing at national and international festivals, recording in professional studios, and teaching students of all ages and abilities along the way. I hold an HND Level 5 in Drums from the Institute for Contemporary Music Performance in London - one of the UK's leading music colleges - and I bring that level of knowledge and passion into every single lesson.
Teaching is not something I do on the side. It is a core part of what I do, and I take it seriously. I have taught in both private and music school settings, preparing students for graded examinations with Rockschool and Trinity from the very first grade right through to the advanced levels. I understand how to structure lessons that are engaging, progressive, and genuinely enjoyable - because a student who enjoys their lessons is a student who keeps coming back and keeps improving.
For parents, I understand that inviting someone into your home to teach your child requires trust. That is why I am fully DBS checked, hold up to date safeguarding training in music education, carry full public liability insurance, and am a current member of the Musicians' Union. Every lesson takes place in a safe, structured, and professional environment - and I am experienced in working within school settings too, for those looking for in-school tuition.

My beginner lessons start from absolute zero - correct grip, basic rhythms, posture, and building confidence from day one. There is no pressure, no expectation, just structured and enjoyable lessons that progress at your pace. I will guide you through your first Rockschool or Trinity grades when you are ready, giving you a recognised qualification to work towards.
